Printable Abstract Watercolor Landscape Set + Easy IKEA Hack Wood Picture Frame

We teased a great new project when we shared our DIY wood stains… and today is project day! We have a large and easy IKEA hack frame tutorial for you, AND it comes with a beautiful hand-painted abstract watercolor landscape set with gold foil accents, one for each season: fresh pink and green for spring, summer greens and blues, glowing orange and red for autumn, and deep blue and stormy gray for winter.

Add beautiful color and style to your wall art with this printable set of abstract watercolor landscapes with gold foil accents. 4 seasonal prints can be displayed together as a collection or swapped out to match the season outside. #remodelaholic #printableartcollection #gallerywall

Our artist did an amazing job on these abstract landscape watercolors, including applying gold leaf to add extra dimension! The hardest part is deciding if you want to display them all together or change them out each season. These prints are sized to fit a 12×16 frame, such as the FISKBO frame that we picked up for a couple bucks at IKEA (and transformed into a thick wood frame in the tutorial below) and they’ll also scale nicely to an 8×10 frame if you prefer the smaller size.

New Printer T9521C

We printed the smaller prints on our new crafting printer from our sponsors at Canon, the Canon TS9521c, and the larger prints on the large-format Canon iP8720 using 13×19 matte photo paper (like we used for the birthday posters, feather printables, and our holiday watercolor set, too) — the print quality is amazing and being able to print our own beautiful art at home is so convenient!

The easiest way to decorate with this set of four-season abstracts is to download them here, then print and pop them in a frame — a white frame with a mat gives a nice studio-type vibe, and it’s so easy!

But when we spied these super inexpensive FISKBO frames at IKEA, we knew they would be the perfect base for an easy large-scale frame hack. Inspired by these $4 farmhouse frames that Crystal at The Weathered Fox made, we grabbed a handful of frames and just thought BIGGER! First we made a set of large-and-in-charge frames to hold 16×20 photos of our site manager’s cute kids — talk about filling up a wall! The total frame is 27″x31″ (can you say HUGE!?) but still really light and easy to hang with picture hanging strips or whatever picture hanging hardware you prefer.

We loved the large frames so much (and got so many compliments on them) that we decided to give the building technique a twist or two using the 12×16 FISKBO frames, which come in black and white and several other colors, too. After we stained the wood with our homemade wood stains, here’s how we put these IKEA hack frames together in an afternoon, using just one or two boards for each — so affordable for an (almost) 19″x23″ frame! As you can see from the video, these frames come together so easily and make a cheap frame look so much more expensive to custom fit your home. The opening in the back makes it easy to swap out the photo or art print when the seasons change or you want a different style. And with all of the options, you can easily and affordably get the look you want! Which one do you like best?

Does the gold bling grab your eye? (I won’t lie, this one just makes me happy!)
